The Train the Trainer seminar of SEDIN was carried out between the 22nd and 24th of October 2018 in Dublin Ireland. It was led by the Universitat de Girona, with Waterpark Montessori International (WMI) and Center of Higher Education in Theatre Studies (CHETS) as content providers, and deliverers. In total 15 trainers attended the train the trainer session in addition to the members of the partnership who also participated in the seminar.

The aims of the training included:

-Understanding the teaching and learning principles of Creative Learning
– Understanding the teaching and learning principles of Montessori
-Being able to use the methods in an independent way and adapt them to particular needs
-Being able to develop exercises and activities using the main principles of the methods
-Being able to instruct teachers in adapting the principles of the methods to particular needs
-Being able to deliver the content of the programme effectively in the national teacher training workshops

In total 15 trainers attended the train the trainer session in addition to the existing members of the partnership. All participants were highly motivated practitioners and several educational leaders were involved in the training, which enhances the sustainability of transfer of practice.

The activities of the seminar included introductory presentations that provided an overview of both good practice models to participants. Following this the training was on the whole practical, in which participants engaged in learning activities of the two methods, and finally created their own activities / lessons in the methods. The activities also raised discussions around pedagogy.

Participants found the training helpful, insightful, supportive and appreciated the practical approach of the training. Following the participants evaluation of the training, it is clear that the seminar was successful in terms of achieving its aims, as well as generating enthusiasm for the models.
